Conveyor belt makes your life easier(I)

Dec. 15, 2021

Belt conveyor parts will be explained below in this article. The belt support, pulley and drive are the three main components of a belt conveyor. Each component is critical to the function of the conveyor unit and must be carefully selected. Although all conveyor systems contain these components, the materials used in the design and the location of each component vary.

The ideal properties of the ideal belt material are

✳ High strength.

✳ low dead weight.

✳ Small specific elongation

✳ high flexibility

✳ High resistivity for layer separation

✳ Low hygroscopicity

✳Long service life

What is a conveyor system and how does it work?

A loading and unloading conveyor system is a type of mechanical handling equipment used to transport materials from one location to another. Conveyor belts make it easy to move large or bulky items, which is particularly useful in applications such as material transportation.

Materials can be transported quickly and efficiently using conveyor systems that are available in a variety of configurations. These are very useful in situations where materials need to be handled on a consistent basis and packaged items need to be moved. These are common in supermarkets and airports, which often have user-oriented transport applications.

Today, there are a wide variety of conveyor systems available to view and use, each tailored to the specific requirements of different sectors. Belt and chain conveyors are the most popular types of conveyors used in industrial environments. So let's take a look at the most important components of a conveyor system.

Belt conveyor parts

The belt conveyor consists of three parts, as follows.

1. Belt as support

2. Pulley system

3. Drive unit

1. Belt as support

For conveyor systems, the belt support is the component that keeps the belt running smoothly and without any restrictions.

If the support unit is not strong, especially when large items are placed on top of it, the conveyor belt may fail. As a result, the belt will not run as smoothly or as fast as it should. The use of support units helps ensure that the belt stays tight and runs efficiently.

2. Pulley System

Belt speed is controlled by this external component, called the pulley system. Each unit is equipped with two pulleys, one powered by electricity and the other not powered by electricity. In addition, modern conveyor systems may have additional rotors on the entire frame.

3. Drive units

The drive unit is responsible for moving or operating the conveyor system. It is equipped with a reversing bearing that effectively holds the moving parts in place. For some systems, it also allows the belt to move in the opposite direction as well as managing frequent direction changes.
